Terms of use
Version 1.0 · Effective 8 October 2026 · Last updated 8 October 2026
Also read our Privacy policy. Questions? Message Basis on WhatsApp or write to support@basismoney.in.
These terms are an agreement between you and Hashlabs India Pvt Ltd about your use of Basis. Please read them. They explain what Basis is, what it isn’t, and what each of us can expect from the other.
1. Who we are
Basis is run by Hashlabs India Pvt Ltd (“Hashlabs”, “we”, “us”), which is responsible for the service.
Registered office: D-16/13 SF, Ardee City, Gurgaon 122011, Haryana, India
CIN: U72900HR2022FTC104771
WhatsApp: +91 98107 08044
Email: support@basismoney.in
Website: basismoney.in
2. How you agree to these terms
There’s no sign-up form. You start using Basis by sending it a message on WhatsApp. By messaging Basis, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Basis.
3. What Basis is
Basis is your personal CFO on WhatsApp: an AI service that helps you organise and understand your money. It can explain financial terms, documents and statements, lay out facts about your own money (such as the costs and returns of your mutual funds), and help you keep track of what matters.
Basis helps only with personal and household money in India: investing, tax, insurance, loans and credit, budgeting, banking and the paperwork around them. It will politely decline other topics.
“Personal CFO” describes what Basis helps you do. It isn’t a professional qualification or a regulated title.
Basis doesn’t buy, sell or move money for you, and it never holds your money or investments.
4. Basis is an AI and can make mistakes
Basis is an AI service, not a person. It can misread a document, misunderstand a question, or get a fact wrong. Figures about your money are calculated by our software from the information you give it, so they’re only as accurate as that information.
Before you rely on anything Basis tells you, check it against the original source, such as your statement, your bank or the official website. If something looks wrong, tell Basis.
5. Information, not advice
Hashlabs is not registered with SEBI as an investment adviser, and Basis does not give investment advice. We are working towards registration, but it has not been granted.
Until then:
Everything Basis tells you is general information, for educational purposes. This includes what it says about investments, tax, insurance, loans and other financial matters.
Basis doesn’t recommend specific investments or financial products, or tell you what to buy, sell or hold.
Basis doesn’t promise or guarantee any return or outcome. Investments can lose value, and past returns don’t predict future ones.
You make your own financial decisions, and you’re responsible for them. For a decision that matters to you, consider speaking to a qualified professional, such as a SEBI-registered investment adviser, a chartered accountant or a lawyer.
6. Who can use Basis
To use Basis you must:
be at least 18 years old;
be resident in India; and
be able to enter into a binding contract under Indian law.
You use Basis through your own WhatsApp account. Keep your phone and your WhatsApp account secure: we treat messages from your number as coming from you.
7. Basis is free
Basis is free to use. If we ever decide to charge for any part of it, we’ll tell you clearly, on WhatsApp and on our website, before you’re charged anything. You’ll never be charged without agreeing to it first.
8. Acceptable use
When you use Basis, please don’t:
break any law, or use Basis to help anyone else break one;
send content you don’t have the right to share, including other people’s personal data without their permission;
pretend to be someone else, or use someone else’s WhatsApp account;
try to make Basis behave against its rules, for example by hiding instructions in documents or messages;
try to break into, overload, copy, reverse engineer or disrupt Basis or the systems it runs on;
use automated tools to send messages to Basis, or collect its replies to build a competing product; or
send content that is abusive, threatening, obscene or harmful.
Keep your secrets to yourself. Basis will never ask for your OTPs, PINs, CVVs, card numbers, Aadhaar number, or the passwords to your bank, UPI, email or apps. Don’t send them to Basis or to anyone claiming to be Basis. The one exception is the password of a locked statement you’ve just sent to Basis, which Basis uses only to open that file.
9. Your content
“Your content” means the messages, documents, images and other material you send to Basis. It stays yours.
You give Hashlabs a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, copy, process and analyse your content, including with AI models, only to provide Basis to you, to keep it safe and working, to improve how it answers, and to meet our legal obligations. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except for records the law requires us to keep.
You confirm that you have the right to share your content with us, and that sharing it doesn’t break any law or anyone else’s rights.
How we handle personal data in your content is explained in our Privacy policy.
10. Third-party services
Basis works with services that other companies run:
WhatsApp: you reach Basis through WhatsApp, which Meta runs. Your use of WhatsApp is governed by Meta’s own terms and privacy policy.
Banks, fund registrars and other institutions: the statements and documents you send come from them, and Basis may point you to their websites or helplines.
We don’t control these services and aren’t responsible for them, their availability, or the accuracy of the information they provide.
11. Our service and our rights
We work to keep Basis available and useful, but we don’t promise it will always be available, error-free or uninterrupted. We may change, add or remove features at any time.
Basis, including its software, name, logo and design, belongs to Hashlabs. These terms don’t give you any rights in them, other than to use Basis as these terms allow.
12. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Basis at any time. To have your data deleted, ask Basis on WhatsApp or email support@basismoney.in, as our Privacy policy explains.
We may suspend or end your access to Basis if you break these terms, if the law requires it, or if continuing would put you, other users or Basis at risk. Where we reasonably can, we’ll tell you why. We may also stop offering Basis altogether; if we do, we’ll give you reasonable notice on WhatsApp.
Sections 5, 9, 13, 14, 15 and 17 continue to apply after your use of Basis ends.
13. Limitation of liability
Basis is provided free of charge, “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows:
We aren’t liable for any financial decision you make, or any loss from it, including investment losses, tax liabilities or missed opportunities.
We aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for loss of profit, data or opportunity.
We aren’t liable for anything caused by third-party services, or by events outside our reasonable control.
Our total liability to you for all claims relating to Basis is limited to ₹1,000.
Nothing in these terms limits any liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
14. Indemnity
If you break these terms or the law, or infringe anyone’s rights through your use of Basis, you agree to compensate Hashlabs for the reasonable losses, costs and claims that result, including reasonable legal costs.
15. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we do, we’ll publish the new version on basismoney.in with a new version number and date. For a significant change, we’ll also tell you on WhatsApp before it takes effect. If you keep using Basis after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms. If you don’t agree, you can stop using Basis and ask us to delete your data.
16. Grievances and contact
If you have a question or a complaint about Basis, message Basis on WhatsApp at +91 98107 08044 or email support@basismoney.in. We’ll acknowledge your complaint within 2 working days and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
17. Governing law and courts
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at Gurugram, Haryana, have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about these terms or Basis.
18. General
Whole agreement: these terms and our Privacy policy are the whole agreement between you and us about Basis.
Severability: if a court finds part of these terms invalid, the rest still applies.
No waiver: if we don’t enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later.
Transfer: you can’t transfer your rights under these terms. We may transfer ours to another company that takes over Basis, and we’ll tell you if we do.
